PCCR celebrates 70 years of excellence in Criminal Justice Education

The Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) marks a significant milestone this year it commemorates 70 years of pioneering Criminal Justice Education in Southeast Asia.

The celebration kicked off with a grand event at Quirino Grandstand last Feb. 11, 2024, bringing together students, educators, administrators, and stakeholders.

The festivities began with a motorcade of 206 vehicles from Balut, Tondo to Quirino Grandstand in Manila followed by a fun walk activity participated by students.

The program commenced with an ecumenical service and the arrival of Lt. Col. Alwin M. Maneja, Commandant of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) unit, to welcome the sixth president of PCCR, Ma. Angelica Lei Bautista, with arrival honors.

During the event, more than 3,000 basic cadets marched with their battalion, accompanied by employees, students, and recognized school organizations.

The freshmen batch of 2027, known as “Mandatala,” was ceremonially welcomed and bestowed their name, symbolizing honor, intelligence, and strength.

In her address, Ms. Bautista reflected on PCCR’s journey as the first collegiate body offering Criminal Justice Education in Southeast Asia since 1954.

She emphasized PCCR’s commitment to molding students with passion, integrity, and excellence, inspired by the institution’s founding father, Supreme Court Justice Felix Angelo Bautista, adding that the institution has “come a long way.”

Under Ms. Bautista’s leadership, PCCR continues to innovate and expand its educational offerings. In addition to Bachelor of Science in Criminology, programs in Forensic Science and Industrial Security Management have been introduced.

The institution is also exploring innovative educational approaches such as blended and gamified learning, as well as offering short courses in cyber security and technical vocation.

As PCCR celebrates its 70th year, the institution looks forward to a future filled with continued excellence and innovation in the field of Criminal Justice Education.
