How pandemic has rerouted Vera and expectant wife

Millions of lives all over the world have been affected, one way or another, by the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, who was slated to have a big year before this all started.

Vera and his wife Jessica are expecting their first-born in July, and the couple were hopeful to give birth in the Philippines. However, the health crisis dashed that, and his wife now have to deliver in Guam.

“Jessica is due for July 29,” Vera said of his expectant wife, “but with the COVID-19 quarantine we have been making emergency plans to give birth in Guam, even though our initial plan was to give birth in the Philippines.”

But wherever his son is born, one thing is for sure, “The Truth” cannot contain his excitement.

“I didn’t realize how excited I would be, and it increases every day and it does not stop,” Vera said.

“It is like going unlimited, super-Saiyan mode, without all the screaming. [I look forward to] hanging out with my son and seeing if I can mold him into a better man than I could ever think of becoming.”

Always a family man, Vera said his experiences with the young ones in his clan prepared him for this very moment.

“I’ve been preparing for fatherhood my whole life with my nephews, nieces, and family,” he said. \“We have been making plans and need to follow through when the time comes, from the hospital bag all the way to helping our son grow as a self-contributing member to society in an amazing way and asking everyone questions.”

However, his son’s place of birth was not the only thing that changed because of the pandemic.

Vera was supposed to have a busy year ahead of him, especially since he is slated to defend his belt against “Singh” Arjan Bhullar this May.

Not only that, he had plans for the big screen this year and all of that will have to wait.

Still, Vera is hopeful that things will return to normal.

“We were hoping [to release a film] by the end of the year, but COVID-19 has changed everyone’s plans. So please just stay tuned with my upcoming films and title defense.”
