TEAM 90s is the 2018 ERJHS Alumni Sports Club Battle of the Generations volleyball champion.
Mamei Apinado of Batch 94 provided the leadership as Teams 90s defeated Team 80s, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19, to complete a sweep of the best-of-five series at the Barangay N.S. Amoranto covered courts in Malaya St., Quezon City.
Apinado teamed up with Lourdes Reyes, Jocelyn Igarta, Alvin Salazar, Rick Boy Pacaldo and Allen Gonzales as Team 90s finished off Team 80s in the tournament organized by the ASC, headed by Ed Andaya of Batch 81 and Zeny Castor of Batch 70, in cooperation with Quezon City Cong. Bingbong Crisologo, Councilor Onyx Crisologo and Brgy. Amoranto Chairman Von Yalong.
Rica Alonsagay, Nini Villanueva, Helen Undag, Beng Samson, Alvin Estocapio and Pablo Mananghaya put up a good fight in Team 80s’ losing effort.
In basketball, Jhoseph Magpantay of Batch 95 exploded with 29 points to power Team 90s to a 76-68 win over Team 80s and a 2-1 lead in their own best-of-five series.
Choy Santiago of Batch 99 and Jerry Santos of Batch 93 added 10 points apiece, while Daniel Blysma of Batch 93 contributed eight markers.
Benjamin Baet of Batch 89 and Vic de Guzman of Batch 81 paced Team 80s with 20 and 18 points, respectively.
Ronald Carillo of Batch 85, who led Team 80s to victory in Game 2, did not see action.
Team 90s can wrap up the title with another victory in Game 4 on Sunday, April 15. Game 5, if necessary, will be played on April 22.
