3 PFL teams start training in Cavite

Three of the six club teams involved in the coming Philippine Football League season will start training today (Wednesday) in Carmona, Cavite.

The four sprawling fields inside the Philippine Football Federation National Training Center will be enough to provide a training bubble for each participating squad.

The workouts will continue for a month before organizers will have a chance to seek a green light from the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to hold a tournament in October.

“Everyone is looking forward to the resumption of training for our clubs. Hopefully, we will have it for a month before the resumption of the league itself,” said PFF President Mariano Araneta.

Araneta, along with PFL Commissioner Coco Torre, talked about the plans of the PFL during Tuesday’s weekly online session of the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Zoom.

United City FC, Kaya and Stallions will lead the way in training.

And this will happen after a final briefing with the Games and Amusement Board on the need to observe safety and health protocols.

“It’s just a matter of reminding them of the safety of each player and the safety of the venue,” said Araneta.

During the monthlong training stint, the players, coaches and staff members will be confined at the National Training Center.

“It’s open ground. It’s not just one pitch, but four,” said Torre.

Four fields will be used by up to 20 players.

Each field can be utilized by players, in accordance to an advisory by the IATF.
