The Philippines collected a total of 11 medals—six gold, three silver and two bronze—at the 2025 Chinese Taipei Age Groups Finswimming Competition held in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, officials said Monday.
Jiskah Cachero led the national team’s campaign with four gold medals, winning the women’s 100m surface and 50m apnea events. She also contributed to victories in the 4x50m surface relay and 4x100m bifin relay.
Cachero was joined by Allen Manlises, Curt Cosico and Jhan Blaine Repil in the 4x50m event, while Manlises, Repil and Kenneth Santos completed the 4x100m squad.
National coach Mary Ann Reyes added two more gold medals in the women’s 50m snorkeling bifin and 200m immersion events in the masters 50-and-above division.
Cachero also secured two silver medals in the women’s 50m and 200m surface events, while Santos took silver in the men’s 200m bifin. Cosico earned bronze in the 800m surface event, and Santos added another bronze in the 400m bifin.
Meanwhile, Filipino para swimmer Angel Otom captured one gold and one bronze at the 2025 Para Swimming World Series in Fuji-Shizuoka, Japan.
Otom, who competed at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, won the women’s 50m backstroke S5 event in 46.84 seconds and placed third in the 50m butterfly with a time of 50.00 seconds.
Her performance secured her a spot in the 2025 Para Swimming World Championships in Singapore this September.
