Kayaking is making a highly anticipated comeback at the Sarangani Bay Festival 2025, set for May 24 and 25 at Mt. Sabrina Beach Resort in Glan, Sarangani.

“Kayaking is one of the new sports that will be added this year,” shared Adeline Melleza, Executive Assistant to Governor Ruel Pacquiao. While it’s being introduced as a new feature for this year’s festival, kayaking actually traces its roots back to the very first Sarangani Bay Festival held in 2006, originally organized by then-Governor Miguel Rene Dominguez.

A thrilling water sport, kayaking involves navigating through water in a small vessel using a double-bladed paddle. It has proven to be a crowd favorite in past editions, drawing enthusiastic participation from kayakers hailing from Davao City and General Santos City. Thousands of spectators have enjoyed the excitement and energy that this sport brings to the festival.

“We should bring back kayaking and aim to replicate—or even surpass—the excitement of the first SarBay Fest kayaking event,” said Lito delos Reyes of SCOOP Davao, one of the event organizers.

Sarbay Kayakfest 2025 is presented by the Office of Governor Ruel Pacquiao, in collaboration with SCOOP Davao and Bugsay Dabaw, promising a revitalized and action-packed kayaking experience for both participants and spectators alike.
