Ramon S. Ang, a prominent businessman and sports enthusiast from San Miguel Corporation, recently received the “Gawad Gat Andres Bonifacio” trophy—the highest accolade awarded during the Gawad Manileño 2024 ceremony at the Metropolitan Theater.

The owner of three Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) teams—San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra, and Magnolia Hotshots—Ang was commended for his significant contributions to Tondo and Smokey Mountain.

Through San Miguel Corporation, of which Ang is President and Chief Operating Officer, he established Better World community centers in these areas, offering meals, education, and tools for self-improvement to local families.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award from the city that raised me. Growing up in Tondo taught me the values of life, unity, and helping one another. These principles inspire our initiatives at San Miguel to uplift the lives of many Filipinos,” said Ang.

“This award not only acknowledges my efforts but also the values instilled in me by Manila. I share this recognition with everyone at San Miguel who is dedicated to creating a brighter future for the Philippines. Let’s continue to support each other so every child and family in Manila, and across the country, can thrive. The possibilities are endless when we join hands,” added the staunch supporter of Gilas Pilipinas.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna celebrated ‘Outstanding Manilans’ who have excelled and made significant contributions to the city through their respective fields. She was joined by Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto and other city officials, City Councilors, and members of Congress, among others.

“We honor individuals and organizations who have demonstrated excellence in their fields and served as role models and inspirations to our fellow citizens. They are our Modelong Manileño,” Lacuna said.
