Jerbie Ong shot 42 points to capture the overall crown while Lance Chan topped Class A with 41 points as they led the winners in the President’s Cup at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club’s West course last weekend.
Paul Gruba ruled Class B with 43 points, edging Jason N, who turned in 42 points in the 18-hole members-only tournament organized and staged by new Wack Wack president Lawrence Tan.
As overall champ, Ong received the club’s version of the British Open’s Claret Jug.
The tournament drew 288 members and around 60 guests and sponsors, making the event’s 18th edition one the most attended President’s Cups in years.
Co-presented by Aureo La Union, San Miguel and Transview, the event staked a Toyota Fortuner (Toyota Otis), Mitsubishi Xpander (Union Motors), Peugeot 3008 (Peugeot Lipa), Mazda CX-5 (Mazda), Harley Davidson motorcycle (ANC Group), Inada massage chair (Inada) and Yamaha golf cart (Kart Plaza) as holes-in-one prizes.
Twelve-year-old Celine Abalos took the Ladies-A crown while Sofia Araneta and Evelyn Sy copped the Ladies-B and C titles, respectively, while Samuel Gaerlan ruled the guest division of the event supported by premier sponsors Stradcom, Steel Asia, K&G, Eva Air, 1st Sunday Group, Security Bank, Powerball Corp., DDT Konstrakt, Century Canning, Champion/Hana, Yakult, UniOil, and Lucerne/wrist_pod while other backers were Pagcor, MAA Insurance, Motolite, Larry Villareal, Kenny Rogers, SM Prince, Seattle’s Best, Ortigas & Co., Landers, NC88, Cebuana Roasts, Fortune Tobacco, VMJ Evergreen, TCM, W Group, Cherrylume, Nickel Asia, Mikey Arroyo, and Dunn Edward Paints.
