THE Philippine Sports Commission is getting ready to allocate a budget for the programs of national sports association.
PSC Chairman William Ramirez said they can do this within the month.
But the NSAs will have to present them with their programs in order to receive financial assistance from the government.
“We will be monitoring them and it will be performance-based,” explained Ramirez.
The PSC chief said the agency will sit down with officials of the Philippine Olympic Committee to discuss the coming financial assistance that they will provide.
“If they (NSAs) can’t do this, walang support,” added Ramirez.
Meanwhile, incentives amounting to P12.790 million will be awarded to medallists, who bagged medals in the recent Southeast Asian Games in simple rites this Wednesday in Malacañang.
Under Republic Act 10699, a SEA Games gold medalist will receive P300,000, while a silver medalist gets receive P150,000. A bronze medalist takes P60,000.
Among the country’s best-performing events were athletics, boxing, billiards, gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, triathlon, and basketball.
The Philippine delegation failed to meet its target of 50 gold medals and ended the campaign with the country’s worst finish in the SEA Games since 1999 with 24 gold medals.
