Posadas, Chua clinch PH International Open plums

NATIONAL players Lara Posadas and Kenneth Chua captured the open singles masters titles of 2017 Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships recently at the Coronado Lanes in Starmall Shaw, Mandaluyong City.

Posadas of PBAP-Bowlmart accomplished a perfect game performance in the qualifying round for a total of 1387 total pin falls.

Seeded in Round 2, Posadas topped that round with 1692 bagging the No. 1 spot in the stepladder match.

She defeated Singaporean Iliya Syamim in the best-of-three stepladder title match, 232-209 and 188-166, to cop the ladies’ open title. 

Iliya, on the other hand, beat compatriot Jermaine Seah, 223-203, in the semifinals to meet Posadas in the stepladder finale.

Chua, 25, who also registered a perfect game in the qualifying round, crushed No. 1 Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong in the best-of-three stepladder title match via scores of 247-162 and 267-217 for the men’s open title. He blasted Hong Kong’s Michael Mak, 247-217, in the semifinals. 

Chua of TBAM-Prima, who recorded 1389 total pin falls in the qualifying round and 1692 in the round two finals, took home the trophy made by Filipino artist and sculptor Joe Datuin.

The tournament is supported by Partas Bus Co. Cubao, Governor Chavit Singson, Petron, Black Arrow, F.R. Sevilla Industrial and Development Corporation, Prima Pasta, The Bowler, Sky Freight.

Middle East, Arnulfo’s Kitchen, Alan Rothe, Four M Travel and Tours and Fiorgelato.   

The international competition organized by the Philippine Bowling Federation, is held in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.

Meanwhile, national team coach and Philippine bowling legend Paeng Nepomuceno led Pugad to the PBF Corporate team event title by amassing 2483 total pin falls to beat second place U & I Bowling Club (2227) and third placer PAREB (2207).
