GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Former IBF world champion Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales and ex-OPBF light flyweight titleholder Joey “The Babyface” Canoy will headline an exciting boxing event on Sunday, April 27, at Venue 88 in General Santos City.
“It’s gonna be a dinner with a boxing show,” said promoter Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil of Sanman Boxing Promotions.
A limited number of tables will be available for purchase at P15,000, good for six people, which includes a full-course meal and drinks while watching the action live. Reserved individual seats are also available at P750.
“The fights were originally set in Cambodia, but we decided to hold it here,” added Manangquil.
In the main event, the 32-year-old Tapales (39-4, 20 KOs) will face hard-hitting Indonesian contender Jon Jon Jet (15-1-1, 12 KOs) for the WBC International Silver Super Bantamweight title.
Tapales is coming off a unanimous decision win over Saurabh Kumar of India last September 7, 2024, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, capturing the WBC Asian Continental Super Bantamweight title.
In the co-main event, 31-year-old Canoy (23-5-2, 14 KOs) will battle Vietnam’s Minh Phat “Leopard Kim” Sam (10-5, 8 KOs) for the WBC International Minimumweight title in a 10-round contest.
