The nation’s finest and fiercest karatekas are gearing up to display their skill, strength, and creativity at the International Karate Organization Nakamura (IKON) Philippines Karate Championships, scheduled for April 6, 2025, at Waltermart, Bacoor.

Leading the charge is Armand Dahilan, a seasoned competitor with international experience in Japan. He headlines an elite roster of athletes competing in an event organized by Shihan Victor Villar Canon, with strong support from Cavite’s city leaders—Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla, Imus City Mayor Alex “AA” Advincula, General Trias City Mayor Luis Alandy “Jon-Jon” Ferrer IV, and Dasmariñas City Mayor Jennifer “Jenny” Barzaga. Among the most anticipated fighters are Catherine Zolina, Ralph Sinanggote, and Eloisa Padios, all expected to deliver standout performances.

“This collaboration among the four Cavite mayors made possible three IKON-led mini tournaments, culminating in this major national selection event,” Shihan Victor Canon shared.

Following the main event in Bacoor, the action will continue with more exciting bouts at The District Mall Imus on April 12, 2025, Vista Mall General Trias on April 27, 2025, and Robinsons Place Dasmariñas on May 4, 2025.

The championships feature various categories. In Kumite (sparring), divisions include boys and girls aged 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, and 13–14. There are also teen categories for boys and girls aged 15–17, and adult divisions for men and women aged 18 and above. For Kata (forms), the intermediate level is open to Blue, Yellow, and Green Belts, while the advanced level is reserved for Brown Belts.

Under the leadership of newly promoted 5th Dan Black Belt Shihan Victor Canon, IKON Philippines has emerged as one of the fastest-growing Kyokushin karate organizations in the country, with a proud and rapidly expanding community of 2,000 karatekas nationwide.
