Filipino bantamweight contender Vincent “Asero” Astrolabio is set to make his return to the ring in a 10-round bout against seasoned Thai fighter Prasitsak Phaprom on February 15 at the Kulaman Gym in SNA, Sultan Kudarat.
“Yes, I’m ready to fight,” said the 27-year-old Astrolabio, who has been training rigorously at RingMaster Gym.
Boasting a professional record of 19 wins (14 by knockout) and five losses, Astrolabio has been sharpening his skills through sparring sessions with undefeated James Gregory and Lito Beltran.
“I’m just focused on training right now,” he added.
Astrolabio aims to bounce back from a tough first-round knockout loss to Japan’s Junto Nakatani in their WBC World Bantamweight title fight on July 20, 2024, in Kokugikan, Japan.
His opponent, Phaprom, brings extensive experience to the matchup with a record of 41 wins (26 KOs), four losses, and two draws. The 43-year-old Thai veteran, a former WBO Oriental flyweight champion from 2011 to 2016, previously challenged China’s Zou Shiming for the vacant WBO World Flyweight title, losing by unanimous decision on November 5, 2016, in Las Vegas.
Astrolabio looks to use this fight as a stepping stone toward another world title shot, while Phaprom aims to prove he still has plenty left in the tank
