Jayson “The Smasher” Mama from General Santos City is training in Miami, Florida, to prepare for his upcoming fight against Puerto Rico’s Juan Carlos “El Indio” Camacho for the vacant WBO NABO flyweight title on Oct. 30 at the Coliseo Marcelo Trujillo Panisse-Humacao in Puerto Rico.
Mama, 27, arrived in Miami with his trainer, Ronerex Dalut, and will head to Puerto Rico on Sunday (Oct. 27). “I’m a bit jet-lagged, but I feel 100 percent ready,” said Mama (20-1-0, 10 KOs), who has been training for this fight for three months. Currently training at Moros Boxing Gym, he’s working to shed a slight weight gain in final preparations.
A former world title challenger, Mama is coming off a victory for the vacant WBF International super flyweight title after defeating Carlo Demecillo in July by unanimous decision in Sarangani. His only loss was against reigning IBF World flyweight champion Sunny Edwards in December 2021 in Dubai.
Camacho, 28, holds a record of 17 wins, one loss, and eight knockouts. He recently claimed the vacant WBO NABO super flyweight title in April, beating Josue Morales by unanimous decision. The fight is promoted by Miguel Cotto of MC Promotions, Hector Soto of H2 Entertainment, and Felix Tuto Zabala Jr. of All-Star Boxing Inc.
