Unlike in his last fight, Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado believes that he’s better equipped this time when he steps back inside the ring for the second time this year.
Having a longer camp is integral for “The Jaguar,” as he’s not only looking to end his three-fight slump but will also be shooting for the upset against no. 4-ranked contender Hiroba Minowa at ONE Fight Night 23: Ok vs. Rasulov this Saturday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
“Medyo mas ok yung preparation ko ngayon. Medyo mahaba unlike sa previous fight natin,” he said.
To him, this isn’t just a chance for redemption but to also correct the mistakes he made in his last three outings.
“‘Yung mga mistakes ko lang, yun ang pinagaaralan namin. ‘Yung mga kulang ko last fight, ‘yun ang pinaghahandaan namin para di na maulit ‘yung nangyari lalo na ‘yung positioning sa ground. Dapat may proper game para maiwasan ‘yun,” he stated.
Miado has certainly learned his lesson after losing two of his last three fights via submission as he focuses more on his ground game and defense.
“Medyo mas nagbabad tayo sa ground, ‘yung mga reflexes ko and sprawl,” he said. “Bawat situation, pinagaralan namin para pag nag-sprawl agad o nag-shoot, ‘di na tayo pupunta sa grappling. ‘Yun ang priority natin.”
But the Jaguar MMA representative is not just planning to be reactive as he aims to set the tone in the Minowa match and be audacious with his strikes. He knows that tentativeness cost him greatly in his last fight at ONE 166: Qatar versus Keito “Pocket Monk” Yamakita, and he plans to avoid it this time around. .
“Tingin ko ngayon, ‘di na ako mahihiya pumasok. Kung ano ‘yung game ko, ipapakita ko rin agad para mailang din siya at mag-dalawang isip mag-shoot pag natikman niya ‘yung power ng strikes ko,” he said.
