Last season’s finalist, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and La Salle Greenhills will battle for the NCAA Season 100 juniors’ basketball crown.
Game 1 of their best-of-three championship series starts Friday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Junior Altas reached the finals for the second straight time after a dominant Final Four win over San Beda, 96-87, while the Greenies swept the defending champion Letran Squires in their Final Four series, 78-74 and 78-77.
Perpetual Help seeks its first juniors’ title since 1984 to end a 41-year drought, while La Salle Greenhills aims to reclaim the crown it last won in 2017.
The Junior Altas topped the eliminations at 8-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of San Beda, 83-80, on March 2.
La Salle Greenhills finished third in the Final Four with a 6-3 record, the same as Letran and San Beda, but held a twice-to-beat advantage over the Squires in the semis.
Key players for Perpetual Help include LeBron Jhames Daep, Jan Roluna, Icee Callangan, JD Pagulayan, Borja, Baldoria, Kurt Velasquez, TJ Tabbuan, Jim Corpuz, Keanne Zanoria, and Lance Nitura.
La Salle Greenhills will rely on Guillian Quines, Dale Ortega, Arle Podador, Gian Gomez, James Ison, Frank Osis and Ram Sharma.
