Altalettes face Junior Pirates, eye 4th victory

The Perpetual Help Junior Altas will seek their fourth victory when they take on the Lyceum of the Philippines University Junior Pirates on Monday in the NCAA Season 100 Juniors’ Basketball Tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Altalettes of coach Joph Cleopas are looking for a second straight win in order to boost their bid of entering the Top 4 in the Final Four playoffs.

The Las Pin̈as City-based squad currently has a 3-1 win loss card, while the General Trias-based LPU has remained winless in four games.

The Junior Altas are coming off a convincing 92-80 win against Arellano University Braves, while the San Sebastian College Recoletos Staglets defeated Lyceum by a score of 83-77.

Cleopas will once again rely on 6’7” LeBron Jhames Daep, Jan Roluna, Jericho Cristino, JD Pagulayan, Icee Callangan and Loiue Ramirez.

“I told them not to be complacent, every game is important,” Cleopas said.

The Tamayo-owned squad hopes to make it to the Final Four for the second consecutive year and third in the history of the Junior Altas.

Tied with the Junior Altas at the top are the San Beda Red Cubs and Emilio Aguinaldo College Brigadiers, while Arellano U, La Salle Greenhills, Jose Rizal University, Mapua and defending champion Letran are locked at 2-2.

SSCR has a win to show in four games.

Other games will have Letran taking on EAC at 8 a.m., St. Benilde against San Beda at 10 a.m., Jose Rizal U vs San Sebastian College at 12 noon and Mapua battling Arellano University at 2 p.m.
