Busy is an understatement for the San Beda Red Lions in the 95th National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil-Flying Sports Center.

They are in for a hectic schedule of three games, beginning with an encounter with the San Sebastian Stags today, followed by a Thursday encounter with the University of Perpetual Help Altas and a clash with a Letran Knights next Tuesday.

The series of encounters are expected to test the resolve of the Red Lions, who remained unbeaten after 12 games.

“We should be consistent from start to finish. Again, lesson learned (from their game against the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers),” said Red Lions coach Boyet Fernandez.

The Red Lions will meet the Stags at 12 noon and hopes are high that their game will be better than when they turned back the Heavy Bombers last Friday, 64-57.

Against JRU, San Beda took time to rouse from a so-so first half, with James Canlas topscoring for 18 points.

The Red Lions are three notches ahead of second running Lyceum (9-3), while the Knights are third at 8-4.

The Stags are in fourth at 7-4 and a loss will allow College of St. Benilde Blazers (6-5) to possibly catch up.

A shakeup in the standings could happen if the Blazers will win in their 2 p.m. showdown with the Letran Knights.

Later, the Mapua Cardinals battle the Arellano Chiefs at 4 p.m.

In junior action, the Red Cubs will seek to secure the no. 1 seeding in the Final Four in their 8 a.m. match with the Staglets. La Salle-Greenhills (7-4) fights the Letran Squires (5-6) at 10 a.m.
