Marshalls, Red Cubs post crucial victories in Martin Cup

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa Marshalls and the San Beda-Rizal Red Cubs posted crucial wins recently to stay in the hunt for quarterfinal seats in 16th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament.

Christian Aljecera connected with 23 points for the PLMUN Marshalls as they defeated the San Beda Red Lions, 95-89, at the La Consolacion College of Manila gymnasium in Mendiola.

Buboy Barnedo and Jan Posada added 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Marshalls, who posted their fourth win in five games in Group A of the senior division.

Cedrix Aquino chipped in 11 points in helping the Marshalls remain in the hunt for available quarterfinal slots.

The Marshalls can join in the quarterfinals the Letran Knights and the La Salle Green Archers, who are in contention in Group B, according to commissioner Robert de la Rosa.

In the junior contest, AC Cruz delivered 16 points for the Red Cubs in their 111-81 beating of St. Michael College of Laguna.

Antonio Lledo and Rhayyan Amsali helped Cruz with 14 points in leading the Cubs to their third triumph in five games in Group A.”‹
