Mariners to represent Visayas in UA 3×3 national finals

UNIVERSITY of Cebu will represent the Visayas region in the Under Armour Under-18 3×3 Tournament set April 28 to 30 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. 

The Mariners sealed the slot following a 15-14 win over University of Visayas in the Cebu leg championship game at the City Sports Club, Ayala Center. 

The quartet of John Bryl Cuyos, Alen Pelegrino, Emmanuelle Bautista and Virlou Orquez and their coach Jover Samonte thus earned an all-expense paid accommodation and round-trip to Manila for the UA national finals. 

University of Southeastern Philippines Foundation tabbed third place in the Cebu leg that attracted 73 teams and 300 players from Cebu and neighboring provinces in the region. 

The event, supported by PDI and Business Mirror, with event partners Gatorade, Wilson, Crystal Clear, De Los Santos Medical and Innewvation, aims to select players who will compose the national team to the FIBA 3×3 U18 Asia Cup from May 26 to 28 at the Cyberjaya Gem-In Mall in Malaysia.

The Under Armour 3×3 Tournament now heads to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City from April 28 to 29 at the Bonifacio Global City, where players from Manila and nearby areas can get a chance to vie for spots in the national 3×3 team.

To drumbeat the activities in the coming weekend, the first-ever UA Basketball Clinic was held on Wednesday at the Bonifacio Global City Love Court at 4 p.m. 

The venue is located at 32nd Avenue corner 9th Street in Taguig City. 

In the clinic, newest UA gears was introduced while selected participants of UA 3×3 and the Under Armour Basketball Clinic got first-hand trial runs from well known top-caliber coaches in the country namely coach Louie Gonzales, Christian Luanzon, Eddie Laure and Eric Dela Cuesta  at the Love Court.

Aside from the 18-under division, Under Armour also created an Open Category for passionate basketball players, local or non-resident, aged 19 to 50 as they also get the chance of pitting their skills against different teams.
