Members of the Alaska Aces basketball team invited children to stay active during this time of quarantine by joining Alaska IronKids Keep Fit at Home.

Members of Alaska Aces, clockwise from top right: Coach Jeff Cariaso; Coach Tony Dela Cruz; Alaska IronKids coach Ani De Leon-Brown and Vic Manuel join the Alaska Fortified IronKids Philippines Keep Fit at Home Facebook live session.

Alaska Aces coaches Jeff Cariaso and Tony Dela Cruz as well as player Vic Manuel were guests of the past Alaska Fortified IronKids Philippines Keep Fit at Home Facebook live session.

Alaska Milk and Sunrise Events is making sure that not even the COVID-19 pandemic can stop children from achieving a balanced lifestyle through Alaska IronKids.

The activity is making sure that children are running and sweating in a shared virtual experience even while they stay safe during the quarantine period.

Alaska Fortified IronKids Philippines Keep Fit at Home is a series of virtual races and activities that will run for 10 weekends which started August 15. Future virtual runs will be held September 19-20, September 26-27, October 3-4, October 10-11 and October 17-18.

Sunrise Events General Manager Princess Galura said the activity teaches children discipline, sportsmanship and how to interact with other children.

She emphasized that it was important for children to remain active through sports despite the global lockdown that is meant to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Sunrise Events founder Fred Uytengsu said the partnership between Alaska Milk and IronKids will help children keep fit during the pandemic through workouts conducted by Alaska IronKids coach Ani De Leon-Brown.

Children, as well as their parents, will also benefit from the Facebook live presentations about nutrition and mental health.

Participants ran at their preferred day, time and pace anytime during the two-day virtual days (Saturday and Sunday). Run may be done manually or via running apps.

Treadmill is allowed but 0.5 incline must be set for the entire run. However, no net elevation loss is allowed. That is, there is no downhill run.
