Ageless PH rider Galedo scores record Guam win

Mark John Lexer Galedo proved once again that age is just a number as he captured his fifth Tour of Guam title with a record-breaking performance.

The 39-year-old rider from 7-Eleven Road Bike Philippines outshone 30 competitors, including defending champion Jaebin Yun of Korea, completing the challenging 105-kilometer course in a remarkable 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 57 seconds.

With a mix of skill and endurance honed over decades of competition, Galedo conquered the gruelling route and held his own against younger, faster-paced rivals, many of whom were nearly half his age.

Adding a twist of fortune to his expertise, Galedo gained a decisive edge when Yun suffered a flat tire about 25 kilometers from the finish line.

This year’s victory was particularly special, as Galedo shattered his previous best time of 2:51, set during his fourth Tour of Guam title in 2019.

Beyond the accolades, the race also served as an ideal preparation for Galedo’s next major challenge: competing in the Masters’ Category of the Asian Cycling Championships in February 2025 in Thailand.

“I’m overjoyed. I dedicate this victory to the Filipinos who invited me and supported me here in Guam,” Galedo shared in an interview with RP2. “The pressure was intense, but my strategy and training paid off.”
