Painters extend pact with Torres, Asistio

By Argie Paul Candare

Rain or Shine’s back-up center Norbert Torres and rookie Anton Asistio signed two-year contract extensions with the team, the Painters’ management announced on Wednesday.

The 6’6” stretch-big and DLSU-standout was picked eighth overall by the Star Hotshots in 2015 and had short stints with Phoenix and TNT before settling with ROS for three years.

Last conference, he averaged 7.73 points, 3.64 rebounds, and 0.73 assist in 11 games played. Torres provides his team with shooting and paint defense, especially when Beau Belga rests on the bench.

On the other hand, Asistio, a two-time UAAP, was part of the rookie group of ROS alongside fifth-pick Santi Santillian and Fil-Am Franky Johnson (17th pick). The 5’10” gunner produced 6.29 points, 1.87 rebounds and 2 assists across seven games.

The Elasto Painters also signed on November 3, their lead-guard and former Letran Knight Rey Nambatac in a max-deal.
