Paris-bound athletes get boost from PSC-PNB Allianz pact

THE Philippine Sports Commission is hoping to improve on the support it provides to the national athletes.

One prime example is the private support that the PSC got when it partnered with insurance company Allianz PNB Life.

“We are trying to help athletes who are qualified for the Paris Olympics. And it’s good to see the private sector joining the government in supporting the athletes, so these athletes can focus on their journey,” said PSC chairman Richard Bachmann.

Bachmann signed a partnership agreement on Thursday with PNB Allianz president and CEO Joseph Gross at the Makati Diamond Residences in a ceremony witnessed by Paris-bound national athletes like gymnast Carlos Yulo, boxer Nesthy Petecio and weightlifters Elreen Ando, John Ceniza and Vanessa Sarno.

The government sports agency has signed an eight-year agreement with PNB-Allianz, concerning the support that Olympics and Paralympics-bound Filipino athletes will get.

The deal will also help the campaign of Paralympians like Allain Ganapin in taekwondo and wheel chair racer Jerold Mangliwan.

The support will also involve assistance into mentoring and health and wellness initiatives.
