The official parade wear that will be worn by Filipino athletes and officials during the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Olympics looks stunning as it truly represents the Philippine colors.
This was the opinion of Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion after she saw and wore the outfit provided by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
“The design has the look of a badminton shuttlecock. But it’s beautiful,” said Carrion of the “Sinag Barong” designed by renowned Francis Libiran, during the sendoff for two Paris-bound Filipino athletes, gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Eumir Marcial.
The sendoff was done by their sponsor Arena Plus, a sports betting organization, at the Brittany Hotel at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
The outfits will be worn by the official members of the national delegation, with boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam leading the way as the country’s flag bearers during the opening ceremony of the quadrennial meet.
The “Sinag barong,” according to Libiran, shows stunning details of Philippine culture. The design features embroidered sun rays and Pintados-inspired warrior patterns on its collar.
