Lee feels pressure ahead of ONE debut: I’ll be ready for it

THERE will be plenty of eyes on Adrian Lee, the youngest member of the famous Lee martial arts family, when he makes his long-awaited debut in ONE Championship on June 9.

The 18-year-old debuts in the world’s largest martial arts organization when he battles Antonio Mammarella at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

He’ll face a certain level of expectations on that day, especially as he trains under the watchful eyes of his older brother, ONE Lightweight and Welterweight MMA World Champion Christian Lee.

But he doesn’t mind, because with family behind him, he feels he can overcome anything.

“Of course, all the competition that I’ve had previous to this are all things that will help me handle the pressure. But, I just believe in my training and when the time comes, I’ll be ready for it,” he said.

“For the interviews, I’m practicing with my family and I’m getting my advice from them too, so I’ll be ready.”

Lee understands that he’s stepping into big shoes, as his brother isn’t only a successful World Champion in ONE, he’s also keen on getting things done before the final bell.

But the young Lee is wise beyond his age. He plans to go in there and take the finish if it presents itself, but he won’t force it.

Like a grizzled veteran, all he cares about is getting it done and scoring his first victory in ONE Championship.

“I got a chance to watch [his pro debut] fight. He was pretty decent in striking and wrestling, and I think those would probably be his strengths,” Lee said.

“Of course, the ideal scenario would first off just be to finish as fast as possible in round one, either by TKO or submission, whatever comes first.

“However, my main goal is just to get out there, win, and finish.”
