Without any hesitation, the defending champion Perpetual Altas Spikers go for the kill against their challengers Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in Game 2 of the National Collegiate Athletics Association Season 99 best-of-three volleyball championship on Sunday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Altas spikers outsmarted the Generals in a 4-set victory at the start of their championship showdown last Sunday, vowing a no let-up approach in their bid to finish the series in Game 2 and achieve a “4-peat” for the Las Piñas City-based educational institution.

The Altas of multi-titled coach Sinfronio ‘Sammy’ Acaylar, who scored a 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19 win to zero in on their 14th overall title since joining the league 40 years ago, will battle with the players of coach Rod Palmero of the Generals at 12 noon, hoping to duplicate the championship feat of the Junior Altas Girls, who swept the Arellano University Lady Braves in their own finals in two games.

Acaylar’s players will be carrying their championship experience against the Generals, who are in their first finals’ appearance in nine years.

Reigning Most Valuable Player Louie Ramirez posted a double-double record of 23 points and 23 receptions, Jefferson Marapoc contributed 20 points and 27 digs, while setter JC Enarciso had 7 points (3 service aces, 2 attacks and 2 blocks).

“What we have in mind is that we have to finish (them) in Game 2. Huwag na paabutin ng do-or-die Game 3,” said Ramirez.

Graduating players Ramirez, Enarciso, Michael Medalla, libero John Philip Pepito and Paul Teodoro also want to give honor to their alma mater in their last playing year.
