Far Eastern University Tamaraws’ coach Olsen Racela is taking his act to the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas in the centennial season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.
The 53-year-old Racela has agreed to handle Altas, who has been coached by Myk Saguigit over the last three years.
“We are just finalizing the terms of the deal,” said Racela in a statement.
The management of the Altas is changing their coaching staff, after the team finished its fifth in Season 99, missing the Final Four with a 10-8 win-loss record.
This put the Altas in a share of fifth and sixth places with the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.
Racela has coached the Tams for the last five years, making it to four straight Final Four appearances in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
In Season 86, FEU landed seventh with a 3-11 slate.
Racela is currently an assistant coach for Barangay Ginebra in the Philippine Basketball Association.
The Altas have not made it to the Final Four since 2018.
