Meralco and Pioneer Pro Tibay showed the way in the Leg 3 opener of the PBA 3×3 Third Conference, with both teams winning their first two games Monday at Robinsons Magnolia.

With their roster back in full force, the Bolts whipped Zamboanga Valientes, 20-9, and turned back Limitless App, 19-16, for a 2-0 record on top of Pool A.

The Bolts welcomed back fit-again mainstay Tonino Gonzaga to the active roster as they bid to win a second straight leg championship in a week’s span. Gonzaga replaced injured big man Maclean Sabellina.

In Pool C, Pioneer also sports a 2-0 slate behind wins over Sista Super Sealers, 18-12, and Barangay Ginebra, 16-10.

With their unbeaten marks, both Pioneer and Meralco are in strong contention for berths in the knockout stage to be played Tuesday also at the same venue.

The rest of the pool plays in Day 1 are still being played as of press time.

Leg 1 winner TNT is on top of Pool B, while Purefoods heads Pool D, both with similar 1-0 standings.

Pool play action continues in Day 2 before the top two teams in each pool advance into the quarterfinal playoffs.

The Bolts won the Leg 2 championship last week behind an amazing 18-17 comeback win in overtime against the Cavitex Braves.

A grand prize of P100,000 awaits the champion of the ongoing leg.
