Pacquiao optimistic, but says nothing is definite

THE possibility of the much-awaited Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. mega fight will finally shape up within the next few days when the Filipino boxing hero flies to the United States today, before heading to London.

The 36-year-old Congressman from Sarangani Province will be staying in Los Angeles for four days, the initial stop of his three-city sojourn, the last of which will be in Miami to act as one of the judges in the Miss Universe beauty pageant scheduled Jan. 25.

He will be having a dinner hosted by Prince Harry of Wales while in London, where he might also meet with the Prince’s grandmother, British Queen Elizabeth. 

While in LA, Pacquiao will be meeting with promoter Bob Arum to discuss with the Top Rank CEO how far negotiations for what could be the biggest and richest fight in the history of prizefighting have gone.

“I cannot yet say anything with finality as far as the proposed fight is concerned. What I can only say is  anuman ang mangyari sa mga susunod na araw, sisiguruhin kong maging maganda ito para sa boksing at sa fans,” Pacquiao said in a brief interview Sunday night at his posh residence in Forbes Park.

“Hintayin na lang natin kung anong mangyayari. Ilang araw na lang naman,” he said in between moves while playing chess, the sport he is now engaged in almost nightly until the wee hours of the morning

“Baka kasi ma-preempt ats mabulilyaso na naman,” he added.

From  California, Pacquiao and  wife, Sarangani Vice Gov. Jinkee, who celebrated her birthday last Monday, will proceed to London to honor an invitation from Prince Harry for a dinner on Jan. 22.
