Actor and film producer Alden Richards is taking on uncharted territory. For the first time in his 15-year acting career, the Kapuso star will play a villain in the upcoming international action film Big Tiger, which he is also co-producing through his own Myriad Entertainment.
“It’s a dream come true on my part,” Alden shared. “Portraying an antagonist on screen has long been on my bucket list. I have been dreaming about this, the bad guy.”
Describing the experience, he added, “Definitely, it’s very different. It’s kind of disturbing because I’m not used to it. But eventually, when I saw the teaser, I thought I was going to like the job.”
Alden said the role challenged him emotionally and physically. “It’s a vital shift that required me to explore various emotional and physical demands. There are a lot of new experiences when it comes to feelings, emotions, body language. And since this is also an action vehicle, there are lots of stunt preparations.”
He acknowledged that playing a villain is a demanding craft. “It allows for greater range and unpredictability, which adds depth to your performance. You can play a lot of angles to the role. The characterization of screen antagonists is quite eccentric and volatile. Good thing I was guided by our director (Keoni Waxman) and the writer.”
Co-producing the project, Alden said, allowed him to give back to the industry.
“When my team and I decided to build a production company, our main goal was to give back. I hope that through this partnership, we have an opportunity to give back to the Filipinos. For us to be proud of something we have.”
He added that the project has provided employment to many Filipinos. “We were able to give jobs to a lot of our fellow countrymen and showcase their talents. Most of the team from the US side has nothing but good words. That makes me proud as a Filipino.”
Big Tiger also stars Byron Mann, Katherine McNamara, Luke Goss, and Max Collins.

Angelica Panganiban opened up about her daughter, Amila Sabine, nicknamed Bean, and the possibility of her entering showbiz.
“I won’t stop her if ever that comes. And when I support her, it will be all the way. She might be surprised with the support I will give,” Angelica said.
Asked if she would be a stage mother, she laughed off the idea.
“But I do have big dreams for my daughter. I would love for her to enter the British School of Acting if possible.”
On her husband Greg’s [Homan] viewpoint, she added, “Of course, as of now, we’re just in that stage where we’ll consent to commercials first. Just commercials.”
Angelica also shared which traits Bean has inherited from her. “My being lively, I think. She’s so energetic. This early, she is really showing signs that she wants to join the entertainment industry in the future.”
