Stories have a way of inspiring people when they feel real. The most memorable ones entertain, make you pause, and leave you seeing life from a new angle. This weekend, GMA Network brings seven of these stories to the big screen in “Ganito Tayo, Kapuso,” each one built around a value that resonates in everyday life.
A lineup of seven short films featuring talents from Sparkle GMA Artist Center will premiere on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Ayala Malls Trinoma in Quezon City. Admission is free.
Each short film focuses on one of seven Filipino values: maka-Diyos, masayahin, maabilidad, makabayan, mapagmalasakit, mapagmahal, and malikhain. These values are told through situations that could happen in any home, street, or workplace.
In Tres Marias (maka-Diyos), Mikee Quintos, Analyn Barro, and Thea Tolentino, with Kimson Tan in a special participation, play friends seeking a quiet break, until a sudden storm forces them to rethink their trip.
G.G. (masayahin) features Euwenn Mikaell, Sienna Stevens, Aljon Banaira, and Kzhoebe Baker as gadget-focused kids taken to a community playground by concerned parents to rediscover games from earlier generations.
Rakatera (maabilidad) stars Althea Ablan and Patricia Tumulak in the story of an aspiring teacher determined to push through setbacks.
Opo (makabayan) stars Vaness del Moral, David Sean, and Ericca Laude in a story about a Filipino mother teaching her children heritage through traditions and cooking Binagoongan.
The Job Interbrew (mapagmalasakit) features Allen Ansay and Maey Bautista, with Sofia Pablo in a special participation, as they tell the story of a young man delayed for a job interview after stopping to help strangers.
Para! Sa Pamilya (mapagmahal) stars Matt Lozano and Heath Jornales in a film about a father recalling jeepney rides with his young son and the joy and gratitude that strengthened their bond.
The Mami Returns (malikhain) stars Anton Vinzon, with Roi Vinzon in a special participation, in a story about passion, creativity, and culinary talent turning a bowl of mami into an online sensation.
Produced by GMA’s Sales and Marketing Group, Program Support Department, and Post Production Department, in partnership with Unilab, UL Skin Sciences, Nestlé Philippines, Unilever, Glucerna, and Bioderm, the short films will be seen in malls, on TV, and online.
For those who can’t make it to Trinoma, the lineup will air on GTV (Aug. 18), I Heart Movies (Aug. 23), GMA (Aug. 24), and Heart of Asia (Aug. 31). The films will also be on GMA’s YouTube channel starting Aug. 25, and for international audiences on GMA Pinoy TV (Sept. 6) and GMA Life TV (Oct. 11).
