Fresh faces are set to add zest to School series as KBS unveils an entirely new cast as well as the release date of the upcoming new season.
School 2021, the eighth installment for the School series, will follow the lives of students who are about to graduate high school and face their uncertain futures.
The cast includes Kim Yo Han (A Love so Beautiful and Zombie Detective) who will portray Gong Ki Joon, an injured taekwondo athlete; Kim Young Dae (The Penthouse 2, True Beauty) who plays Jung Young Joo, a transfer student with a hidden past; Cho Yi Hyun (The Hospital Playlist, The Guest) will play Jin Ji Won, a sharp and ambitious student; and Hwang Bo Reum Byeol (The World of My 17) who will portray Kang Seo Young, an intelligent student who aims to get accepted into one of the top universities in the country.
The drama was originally entitled School of 2020 and was supposed to be released in the second half of the previous year. However, according to a report by Soompi, KBS changed the title to School 2021.
Following this change, the supposed plot and characters for School 2020, which were based on the novel Oh, My Men! by Lee Hyun, were scrapped. The new installment now has a new set of characters as well as a different plot.
