Actress Sasa Cabalquinto has won the Best Performance award at the Singapore International Film Festival 2024 for her notable role in the film Vox Humana by director Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan.
Taking to Instagram to share her thoughts on receiving international recognition, Cabalquinto posted a heartfelt message along with photos of herself holding the award.
“Super grateful to be an instrument to deliver a message in such a unique manner through the character I portrayed in this indigenous film,” Cabalquinto wrote.
“It has always been my dream to dress and represent our indigenous people to a larger audience, and be a voice and a vessel in ways that I can. Our film gave space for me to do all that,” she added.
Vox Humana is a sci-fi drama that follows the story of a “feral man” found in a forest after an earthquake devastates a small town.
Cabalquinto has also appeared in other films, including Eliza Cornejo’s Kaleidoscope World and Aurea Marie Bueno and Bryan Nonay’s Indak ng Panahon.
The 35th Singapore International Film Festival ran from Nov. 28 to Dec. 6.
