Actress Janine Gutierrez walked the red carpet at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024, representing her film Phantosmia in the World Focus section, which highlights contemporary global cinema. Dressed in a striking purple gown, Gutierrez greeted the event with enthusiasm.
Ahead of the festival, Gutierrez shared her excitement on social media: “Lav Diaz’s @phantosmiafilm has one more stop before coming home, and it’s the @tokyo_intl_film_festival. I’ll be flying to Tokyo tomorrow to attend the opening red carpet on October 28 at Hibiya Area, Ginza, Tokyo! So excited to see you and be in Japan. Come say hi!”
Directed by Lav Diaz, Phantosmia follows a retired military officer with phantosmia, a condition causing him to smell nonexistent odors, leading him to confront past traumas. The film, also starring Ronnie Lazaro, Paul Jake Paule, and Hazel Orencio, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 24.
