American actress Lindsay Lohan has confirmed that there will be a sequel to the 2003 comedy film “Freaky Friday,” the third film adaptation of American writer Mary Rodgers’ novel of the same name.

In her radio appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Lohan confirmed that the sequel was in the works, expressing excitement alongside her co-star, award-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, over its development.

In 2022, Curtis stated her interest in a sequel to “Freaky Friday,” drawing hope from many fans for its development. Lohan echoed these sentiments a month later in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, expressing her desire to work with the film’s team again if given the chance.

In 2023, “Freaky Friday” producer Andrew Gunn teased the possibility of a sequel during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, stating that the film’s writer, Elyse Hollander, had conceived a “super funny, heartwarming idea” for the continuation of the story.

The 2003 film earned multiple accolades for Lohan, including Best Breakthrough Performance at the 2004 MTV Movie Awards. It also garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Curtis.

Despite Lohan’s confirmation, further details about the anticipated sequel have yet to be released to the public.
