‘Game of Thrones’ fever is on

Fans waited for more than a year, now the long wait is over as the blockbuster fantasy drama series resumes with its newest season, blasting off with first episode watched by almost 13 million viewers in the US alone, its highest viewership since its premiere in April 2011.

The seven-episode Season 7 of Game of Thrones promises another crazy circle of power play and mystery with season 6 ending with Jon Snow becoming the King of the North; Cersei Lannister as the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled princess traveling to Westeross to reclaim her throne.

Teasers for season seven show a glimpse of what chaos is going to hit the characters: winter and the Great War. Fans can expect a lot of twists and turns once again with Dany and Jon Snow’s meeting; Arya’s reunion with her direwolf, Nymeria; and the three Houses- Tyrell, Dorne, Greyjoy’s aid to Dany as she journey in taking over the Seven Kingdoms.

Ed Sheeran also did a cameo in the pilot episode as a gift to her fan Maisie Williams, who is playing the character of Arya Stark. Adding to the roster of casts is Jim Broadbent, who will act as a maester of the Citadel at Oldtown, Archmaester Marwyn.

Executive producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss in an interview with Entertainment Weekly teased that the much anticipated war will finally happen in Westeross. New interactions and a bunch of reunions will also be formed in the penultimate season.

Powerhouse casts- the Starks, Jon Snow, Cersei and Jamie Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen are said to be bolder and fiercer for this season. Sophie Turner, playing Sansa Stark declared in an interview with Independent.co.uk that her character will be ‘unlikeable’. She explained that Sansa will finally have power but is at loss onto what she’ll do with it.

The HBO original production premier episode aired July 16, with its ending episode reportedly to have the longest duration in the show’s entire history.
