After months of hinting at new music, Lorde’s first single in four years, “Solar Power,” has arrived coinciding with the solar eclipse.

The feel-good summer anthem was accompanied by a music video that featured Lorde as the leader of a pastel-clad hipster cult, co-directed by the pop-star herself along with Joel Kefali.

With cheeky lyrics and groovy vibes, the uplifting summer track encourages listeners to leave their worries behind and enjoy the heat of summer. Clairo and Phoebe Bridges were also credited as background vocalists for the track.

“Lead the boys and girls onto the beaches / Come one, come all, I’ll tell you my secrets / I’m kinda like a prettier Jesus,” she daringly sings.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter shared with her fans in a newsletter on Friday that it is her “divine pleasure to be introducing you, at long last, to my third studio album, Solar Power.

The highly-anticipated album is a collaboration with Grammy award-winning producer Jack Antonoff, whom Lorde had worked with in her 2017 album Melodrama. Lorde described the new album as “a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors.”

Lorde already created a buzz on the Internet earlier this week when she first teased a cover art for her album that featured her bare bum blocking the sun along with a short message: “Arriving in 2021… Patience is a virtue.”

While no official date for the album release has been disclosed yet, Lorde urged her fans to figure it out by looking at the natural calendar for clues.

The New Zealand singer first rose to fame back in 2013 with her Grammy award-winning hit ‘Royals,’ making her the youngest Grammy recipient at 17.
