Meant to Beh is the first big screen project of Dawn Zulueta in tandem with Vic Sotto. Dawn admitted she got pretty excited when she was offered to play a role in the movie produced by Sotto’s MZet Productions with Orly Ilacad’s OctoArts Films and Tony Tuviera’s ATP Entertainment.

“That’s right,” she said. “This is the first time we are in a project together for the big screen. I played for sometime the role of Faye in Okay Ka Fairy Ko. It was short lived and we never had a chance to work together again.”

“That’s why Meant To Beh is very special to me as it has many firsts for me, too, like working for the first time with Chris Martinez (director), Daniel Matsunaga, JC Santos, Gabbi Garcia, Ruru Madrid, and Baby Baste (co-stars). It’s exiting.”

She added, “It’s a breather, I think, from the emotionally draining roles I played on TV recently.”

Meant To Beh tests the comic timing of Dawn. And based on the feedback from those that had seen the film during its preview, she was able to stand up to Vic Sotto’s comic skills.”

Kim Hye Jin gave Heart Evangelista a hand-painted scarf while Alexander Lee acted interpreter for both Kim and Andy Ryu.

That happened when the Hye Jin, an actress in Korea, visited the set of My Korean Jagiya recently to meet Heart. The two seemed to have an instant connection because they share the same interest. She is also a painter, like Heart who was gifted with a hand-painted scarf by Hye Jin.

“We have a lot of things in common. I’m so excited so I hope they’ll go to my house for dinner. I will prepare dinner,” said Heart.

Hye Jin used to be a model and became an actor. She was in the cast of Iris and the historical drama Dong Yi. Both were seen on the Kapuso network.

She came to Manila to visit Andy Ryu who plays Gong Woo in the top-rating My Korean Jagiya and also to meet Heart and Alexander.

Alexander related what Andy felt when Hye Jin visited them on the set, “[He’s] really happy that she [Kim Hye Jin] is visiting him [Andy Ryu] because as a Korean actor, having another Korean to support him in a foreign country really makes him feel good.”

Alexander added how Hye Jin felt, “It’s the first time she came here to the set, and she sees Heart for the first time. And she sees that they have many similarities, and also differences from Korea. But she’s really excited about everything in this experience.”

Hye Jin learned a few Filipino words and phrases while she was in Manila, like salamat po and mahal kita.

We met Jonas David at Cabalen at Trinoma recently.

But, who is Jonas, by the way?

Jonas is a pop and R&B singer based in San Fernando,  Pampanga. He took up a  multimedia course at Informatics Computer Institute and latet a brief course in music at the University of the Philippines College of Music.

So, Jonas makes a living by singing. In 2004, he was a recording artist at Emmanuel Records along with Arnel De Pano, Jonathan Manalo, and Ricky Sanchez.

Pampanga-based singer-songwriter Jonas David

In 2007, he was a Pampanga Tourism artist. Also, he represented Pampanga at the Pampanga Day Celebration in Las Vegas USA in 2011.

During our brief chat over the restaurant’s Kampangan dishes (his family owns a franchise of the famous restaurant in Subic), we learned that the Cabelen singer is also a songwriter. He has a couple of songs that other singers have interpreted, like “Let Go” sung by Jed Madela in the album Breath Again.

Jonas’ voice is heard in all Cabalen Restaurants with the jingle of the restaurant. He also wrote songs for the Philippine Dental Association, sang the jingle of Eternal Peace Memorial Park, Mystique Lane Hotel.

Recently, he penned the Christmas Jingle of Pampanga (“Pasku Na Pampanga”), sang “Inasal ATBP,” and the Mutya Ning kapampangan jingle in 2005.

He’s a nice guy to talk with, being very positive about himself and what he does. He said he has no ambition to break into the music carnival in Metro Manila being happy with where he is. After all, despite being based in Pampanga, he had been able to perform as a front act for the likes of Kuh Ledesma, Dulce, Bitiun Escalante, Kitchie Nadal, Sponge Cola, and the Madrigal Singers.

In between gigs he  hosts KTube Pampanga and Pasyal at Saya aired on GNN TV 44 Pampanga.

Ivory Music & Video signed Jonas for his Kapampangan Christmas song titled “Mamasku Ta Pampanga.”

The song can be downloaded through Spotify, amazon, and itunes.bAlso, the said recording company is lining up mall and city tours for the promotion of his song.
