Big shoes to fill

GMA has recently announced that Sanya Lopez will fill in the shoes of Marian Rivera in its upcoming primetime presentation titled First Yaya, which also top bills veteran actor Gabby Concepcion.

Originally, Marian was slated to do the said project that would serve as her comeback in doing soap operas after three years. However, due to the pandemic, production was put on hold until the Kapuso Prime Time Queen eventually backed out from the show because she doesn’t want to be away from her children Zia and Sixto since it would require lock-in taping.

First Yaya is definitely a huge project for Sanya which would catapult her as one of GMA’s premiere female leads.

“I couldn’t thank the management enough for the trust they gave me. I was super happy about this development in my career. Being handpicked for the role is such an honor,” Sanya said.

In the story, she will play the role of the nanny to the president’s children. Apart from Gabby, other stars who are part of the cast include Cassy Legaspi (in her acting debut), Pancho Magno, Sandy Andolong, and Pilar Pilapil.

This development is a further boost to Sanya’s progressive career. A protégé of the late star-builder German Moreno, the alluring lass caught the public’s attention with her sizzling portrayal of Sang’gre Danaya in the 2016 reboot of the classic fantasy Encantadia. She also nabbed lead roles in the top-rating soaps Cain at Abel, Haplos, and Dahil sa Pag-ibig and headlined the 2018 movie Wild and Free.
