Jukebox Queen Imelda Papin marks her first week at PCSO today, bringing her extensive public service experience to her new role as a member of the Board of Directors.
In her recent intimate huddle with the showbiz press, the OPM icon expressed joy and enthusiasm about her return to public service. She highlighted her past role as vice governor of Camarines Sur, emphasizing her dedication to assisting constituents, which continued even after her term ended.
Papin shared that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraged her to select an organization where she could effectively contribute, leading her to choose PCSO. She recounted her surprise upon receiving a last-minute invitation for the oath-taking ceremony, exclaiming with excitement at the opportunity.
“Everyone knows that helping and serving people is like second skin to me. Even when I wasn’t in power anymore, I still helped my fellow Bicolanos in my little way when there were calamities. So, I’m just very happy that I’m given another chance to serve and help,” she said.
Looking forward, Papin unveiled her initiative dubbed “Isang Linggong Serbisyo,” inspired by her hit song “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig,” aimed at expediting financial aid to patients in need. She emphasized her commitment to swift assistance, drawing from her past experiences in responding to urgent community needs.
Addressing her fellow showbiz personalities, Papin assured swift assistance for any in need, particularly in medical matters, underscoring her close ties to the industry that contributed to her success.
Regarding future political ambitions, Papin hinted at potential calls to run for national office but expressed a current focus on enjoying her role at PCSO.
“To be honest, many organizations are urging me to run for a national position. However, I haven’t seriously considered it yet because I want to fully focus on my role at PCSO and enjoy this experience for now,” Papin ended.

The Multi-Media Press Society of the Philippines, Inc. (MMPRESS), composed of veteran showbiz and online writers, recently had its oath-taking ceremony, overseen by Finance Secretary Ralph Recto at the Department of Finance.
After the ceremony, Secretary Recto shared that his wife, Vilma Santos, is considering a return to public service.
“In the coming 2025 elections, she is contemplating running again as Batangas Governor. For sure, she will win!” he said. There are also rumors that their son, Ryan Christian, might run for Congress. “Yes! He might run for Congress.”
Recto, who assumed office in January, discussed his experience so far, stating, “I keep a 12-hour workday at the Department of Finance. But my Saturdays and Sundays are free.” Despite his busy schedule, he emphasized his dedication to family time. “We’re always together. Vi and I watch movies and have dinner together. Even when I come home late, we spend time before bed.”
He also mentioned their upcoming vacation to the US, where he will stay for a week, and Vi will stay longer to spend time with her sisters.
Secretary Recto expressed pride in leading the oath-taking ceremony for the new MMPRESS officers. “Most of you I know already because of my wife. Thank you for all that you do for her.” He also promised to support the group’s advocacies in sports, health, education, and the environment, in addition to TV, film, and social media.
MMPRESS Chairman Jun Nardo and President Ambet Nabus committed to providing benefits for their members, such as health cards, and announced the “Dekada Awards for Films.”
