The 5-foot-5 teen model is a Senior High (Grade 11) student, under the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand at San Beda Alabang. She is a recipient of her school’s St. Maur Award for outstanding student.

Hernandez, who loves playing the piano, violin, and ukulele, has her own ‘Hayni Studio.’ An aspiring print ad model, she started modeling at the age of 9. Hernandez has also acted on the small screen having starred in ABS-CBN’s docudrama SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operative) 14th Anniversary Special.

Hernandez said that having experienced bullying and discrimination at a young age because of her skin, she instead took this as her motivation to succeed and achieve her dream to become a beauty queen.

“Being a beauty queen is a blessing and also a responsibility to make a difference in other people’s lives,” Hernandez said. She advocates reaching out to the most neglected and most disadvantaged communities in her province and helping to uplift the lives of the underprivileged and less fortunate people.

Hernandez will undergo training under the Kagandahang Flores Camp of Rodgil Flores in preparation for the Miss Teen International pageant. She is thankful to Rikki Molina, National Director of the Miss Teen Philippines franchise and her fellow Calambeños led by Calamba Mayor Justin Chipeco for their valuable support to her forthcoming international competition.
