The Asoka trend is taking over the online world by storm and the latest personality to join the trend is Miss Universe Philippines – Quezon Province 2024 bet Ahtisa Manalo.
Inspired by the 2001 Bollywood film, the 26-year-old beauty used the makeup challenge to showcase her national costume for the upcoming 2024 Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
But instead of the usual Asoka trend, Ahtisa took the local version as she did the makeup transformation to the beat of Angeline Quinto’s “Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas”.
Donning her “Whispers of Tayabak” costume, the outfit pays homage to Quezon’s unique biodiversity. Inspired by the mesmerizing Jade Vine, locally known as Tayabak, the hand-embroidered ensemble resembles the vine’s entwined growth.
“Step into a realm of botanical wonder of Quezon Province’s costume, inspired by the mesmerizing Jade Vine, locally known as Tayabak, a rare and captivating treasure endemic to the lush landscapes of Mt. Banahaw,” wrote Ahtisa.
“Quezon Province’s costume, aptly named ‘Whispers of Tayabak’, is a vibrant celebration of nature’s artistry, designed to mirror the elongated, beak-shaped petals that hang elegantly in cascading clusters. The bodice features a rich tapestry of greens and blues, intricately hand-embroidered to mimic the vine’s entwined growth, with subtle hints of silver to reflect the dew-kissed foliage at dawn,” she added.
More than just a costume, Ahtisa described her costume as “a vibrant celebration of nature’s artistry in Quezon Province”.
The 2018 Miss International 1st runner-up is vying for the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 crown after her five-year hiatus from the pageantry.
Miss Universe Philippines coronation night will be held on May 22, 2024, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
