Known for her signature voice in commercials and online content, content creator Inka Magnaye took on a new challenge—acting on the big screen. After appearing in the mystery series Senior High and High Street, Inka made her film debut in The Caretakers, a psychological thriller starring Iza Calzado and Dimples Romana.

Inka has built a career using her voice, but stepping in front of the camera is a different experience. In an exclusive interview with Manila Standard Entertainment during the film’s premiere night, the newbie actress dove into what it means to be empowered.

“I feel really empowered every time I do something that I love, and I’m able to help people through that,” she said.

The transition from voice acting to live-action performance is a significant shift, but for her, it’s another avenue to express herself.

While The Caretakers is her first movie, Inka is familiar with being in the public eye. She knows the challenges women face, especially in today’s digital world.

“Being a woman in today’s world means that you need to be more vigilant, you need to really be alert and aware of how you carry yourself,” she shared.

“No matter what we do, we are always going to be wrong in some people’s eyes. But it doesn’t mean that we are actually wrong—it’s just how they perceive us,” added Inka.

Throughout her journey, she shared that many women have inspired her.

“As they say, it takes a village to raise a child, and as I have lived throughout mylife, there have been many women who eachhave imparted some lesson that has helpedme grow into the woman that I am today,”she stated.

As she embarked on this new career path, Inka expressed her hopes to remind Filipino women of their inner strength. “Pre-colonial Filipino women—we were leaders, wise women, warriors. And we still are. You just have to discover that,” continued Inka.
