Actor Donny Pangilinan, actress Belle Mariano, and TV personality Maine Mendoza spent time with selected Smart Communications subscribers in a series of intimate fan meet-ups in February.
The events were part of Smart’s Holideals promo, which offered subscribers a chance to join meet-and-greet sessions with the network’s celebrity ambassadors.
Donny and Belle, otherwise known as DonBelle, met 10 subscribers on Feb. 15 for a group date filled with games and conversations. Fans presented gifts and sang an early birthday song for Donny, who turned 26 on Feb. 10.
The pair took time to talk individually with each fan, answering questions, listening to personal stories, and even making video calls to friends of the attendees.
“We really enjoyed spending time with you. Belle and I would not be here without you,” Donny told the group. Belle added it was rare for them to interact closely with supporters. “It’s really nice to have this opportunity to know more about you,” she said.
The subscribers later expressed appreciation for the event, describing the interaction as more personal than expected.
On Feb. 22, Maine surprised nine subscribers during a lunch gathering in Quezon City. The event, hosted by P-pop group Daydream’s Denise Silva, allowed fans to share stories about the TV host’s decade-long showbiz career.
Among the participants was 36-year-old Elvira Abad, a Smart subscriber since 2015. “As a fellow introvert, I could relate to her when she was starting out in showbiz,” she said.
Another fan, 52-year-old teacher Leonora Aquino, said she regularly uses Smart’s PowerAll data promos for school presentations. “I no longer bring a laptop. I mirror my phone screen when there’s no Wi-Fi and stream educational videos in class,” she said.
Mary Graze Oalog, a former overseas Filipino worker, joined the event after returning from Saudi Arabia. “We join Smart promos because of Maine. She was our stress reliever abroad,” she said.
Maine, who marks her 10th year in entertainment, thanked supporters. “We’ve been through so many firsts together. It’s rare we get to share stories like this,” she said.
The Holideals meet-ups formed part of Smart’s rewards program to offer subscribers experiences beyond connectivity.
