Directed by Carlo Victor Vidanes, My Love Will Make You Disappear follows Sari (Kim Chiu), who believes she is cursed to make her loved ones disappear, and Jolo (Paulo Avelino), a heartbroken landlord. Paulo shared that whenever he takes on a new project, he always considers the efforts of those working behind the scenes.
“I’m honestly very excited. I was quite surprised because I didn’t expect our film to be shown in so many countries,” he said. “Actually, for me, whenever I think about a film I’m working on, I don’t focus on my performance or the cinematography. I remember the people working behind the scenes. I hope this film succeeds.”
My Love Will Make You Disappear is Kim and Paulo’s first movie together. It’s their third together following the TV dramas Linlang and What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.
The film centers on Sari (Kim), a woman who believes she’s cursed, as every man she loves mysteriously disappears. To shield herself from further heartbreak, she avoids romantic relationships.
Her resolve is tested when she meets Jolo (Paulo), a brooding landlord struggling to manage a failing apartment complex. As they collaborate to prevent the displacement of their community, their connection deepens. However, Sari’s fear of her supposed curse threatens their budding romance.
