Fresh from his Best Supporting Actor win at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival for Green Bones, Ruru Madrid expressed his gratitude to the cast and writers of Lolong Season 1 during a media conference for the show’s new season.
Calling the experience of working on the series “magical,” Ruru praised the team’s dedication and collaborative spirit, which he credited as the driving force behind the show’s success.
“The team is incredibly supportive and collaborative in everything we do. I believe that’s the secret to success—teamwork. There’s no alpha or dictator; everyone has a voice, and that’s the magic of Lolong,” he said.
Ruru also shared his excitement for the upcoming episodes. “I just finished reading up to Week 5, and it feels surreal that we have a new chapter for Lolong. I’m so grateful to all of you who have been with us since Season 1. You know how much I love and appreciate you all,” he said, commending the writers for their exceptional work.
Promising to give his all for the new season, Ruru added, “Whatever challenges or obstacles come our way, we’ll face them together and strive for success. Let’s share the good news—our Bayani ng Bayan, Lolong, is returning.”
The 27-year-old actor reprises his titular role in Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, with the new season promising grander action scenes and more compelling drama. Returning cast members include Shaira Diaz, Rochelle Pangilinan, Paul Salas, Mikoy Morales, Alma Concepcion, Maui Taylor, and Jean Garcia.

Joining them are acclaimed actors John Arcilla, Rocco Nacino, Martin del Rosario, Klea Pineda, and Tetchie Agbayani, along with a robust ensemble featuring Victor Neri, Nonie Buencamino, Rodjun Cruz, Pancho Magno, Michelle Dee, Nikki Valdez, and many others. Child stars Ryrie Sophia and Drey Lampago are also set to debut in the series.
