Jillian Ward’s move to have a leading man is a natural step in her career as it will allow her to explore more complex roles in the future. In My Ilonggo Girl, her pairing with a strong onscreen partner will allow the audience to see her growth as she plays two contrasting characters.

In the series, Jillian portrays Tata, a humble Ilongga from the province, and Venice, a glamorous actress. The series follows Tata as she unexpectedly enters Venice’s world, setting off a series of life-altering encounters.

Jillian’s dual role poses a unique challenge, but it’s one she’s embracing with open arms.

During the media conference for the show, the 19-year-old Sparkle artist shared that she’s ready to grow, both as an actress and as a leading lady.

“I think it’s about time for me to have a leading man,” Jillian shared. She’s eager to explore a long-term love team, a dynamic she is excited to develop in the show.

Michael Sager portrays the role of Francis, Jillian’s love interest in the series

In her latest project, Jillian is teaming up again with fellow Sparkle artist Michael Sager. After working together in Abot Kamay na Pangarap, they’re now starring in the romantic comedy that will showcase the beauty and culture of Iloilo.

“This is my first teleserye with GMA Public Affairs, and I’m so thankful for the trust GMA has in me. I’m excited because this is something completely different from what I’ve done before,” Jillian expressed.

My Ilonggo Girl marks Jillian’s return to primetime, and she’s excited to portray characters that are far removed from her previous roles.

“It’s my first time playing a kontrabida, and I’m also playing a character from the province. Fans will see a different side of me,” she added.
