Hollywood’s biggest night live on Lionsgate Play

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards, Hollywood’s annual celebration of excellence in film and television, will be streamed live on Lionsgate Play in the Philippines on Jan. 6 at 9 a.m.

The awards, dubbed “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” will honor outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry. This year’s event introduces two new categories: Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television and Cinematic Box Office Achievement.

In the film category, The Substance, The Brutalist, and Dune: Part Two lead the nominations for Best Picture. Directors Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), and Coralie Fargeat (The Substance) are contenders for Best Director.

Nominees for Best Actor and Actress in a Motion Picture include Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Demi Moore (The Substance), Zendaya (Challengers), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Sebastian Stan (A Different Man), and Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain).

For television, shows such as The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Squid Game, Shōgun, and Netflix’s Nobody Wants This are in the running for Best Series. Performance nods include Anna Sawai (Shōgun), Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), and Jeremy Allen White (The Bear).

The new Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television category features nominees like Ali Wong (Ali Wong: Single Lady), Seth Meyers (Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking), and Adam Sandler (Adam Sandler: Love You).

Cinematic Box Office Achievement nominees include major blockbusters such as Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, and Gladiator II.

Lionsgate Play, a premium streaming service available in the Philippines, will stream the awards live via PLDT Home and Smart. Subscriptions are available for P79 per month via the Lionsgate Play app.
