The first Battle Round of The Voice Kids kicked off on Sunday, Nov. 3, with young singers delivering impressive performances in a heated competition to advance to the next round.
The Battle Round follows an intense round of blind auditions, where aspiring young artists showcase their talents. Now, these singers face off in three-way battles, putting their skills to the test in hopes of moving closer to victory.
A twist introduced this season, the “Backstage Steal,” adds to the excitement. After each three-way match, the winning contestant advances, but other coaches can choose to “steal” one of the contestants who didn’t make it through, giving them a second chance in the competition.
In the opening battle, Coach Billy Crawford’s Team Bilib, featuring Rexylyn Hi Caiji, Eun-Hae Francisco, and Clet Feigalan, delivered a stirring rendition of “Patuloy Ang Pangarap.” Crawford selected Rexylyn to continue on his team.
Coach Julie Anne San Jose’s team, known as the JuleSquad, saw Shawn Agustin, Ava Glarino, and Wincess Yana tackle “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Shawn secured his spot, while Coach Billy exercised his Backstage Steal to bring Wincess to Team Bilib.
On Coach Stell’s team, contestants Brianna Louise Sison, Jan Hebron Ecal, and Jireh Tzidkenu Sepnio captivated with their cover of “Isa Pang Araw,” with Jan advancing to the next round.
Coach Pablo’s group, composed of Shamchienel Santos, Keith Neithan Perez, and Hannah Aladin, performed “Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga, with Shamchienel moving forward.
Two more groups per coach are set to face off in the coming Battle Round episodes, with viewers eager to see how coaches use the Backstage Steal option to their advantage.
Hosted by Dingdong Dantes, The Voice Kids airs every Sunday at 7:05 p.m. on GMA Network.
